Baylor lands Ricardo Gathers

A one-time commit to the Red Storm of St. John's, Gathers re-opened his recruitment, just before the early signing period started, and gauged interest from a few schools, including; Baylor, Florida, LSU, North Carolina State, LSU and UNLV with St. John's still in the running. After one official visit, this past weekend, he decided he had found his match.
Ricardo Gathers committed to Coach Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears on Monday.
Gathers, a 6'7 245 pound force, will play power forward at Baylor, a position we have him ranked at No. 11 in the 2012 class. He grades out an A on the site and comes in at No. 37 overall in our 2012 top 100.
Before this commitment, Baylor found themselves sitting just outside of the top 10 in our 2012 class rankings. The addition of Gathers looks to shoot them all the way to No. 5 when the rankings are updated soon. He joins the No. 4 overall prospect in the class, center Isaiah Austin, as well as point guard LJ Rose (No. 62) and another Texas big man in Chad Rykhoek.
